Mirari Revel is our newest imprint

Introducing Mirari Revel: A New Digital-First Imprint from Mirari Press

We are frothing at the mouth with excitement! Today, we are officially celebrating the launch of Mirari Revel, our newest imprint dedicated exclusively to digital-first speculative fiction. This new imprint is designed to provide a global platform for short stories that challenge conventions, explore the extraordinary, and amplify queer voices.

At Mirari Press, we’ve always sought to create spaces where diverse voices can flourish. Now, with Mirari Revel, we are creating a dedicated home for speculative short fiction that pushes boundaries and dares to be bold. From fantastical worlds where magic is queered, to sci-fi futures where technology reshapes identity, Mirari Revel seeks to celebrate stories that defy the ordinary.

Why Digital-First?

As an ebook-only imprint, Mirari Revel embraces the accessibility and immediacy of digital publishing. We want these stories to reach readers around the world, free from the constraints of physical distribution. By focusing on short fiction, we aim to create an agile platform where experimental and innovative storytelling can thrive.

A Platform for Queer Voices

Mirari Revel is proudly committed to showcasing queer storytelling from authors everywhere, with a particular emphasis on voices from the Global South. We believe speculative fiction offers a unique space for reimagining the world, exploring identity, and challenging the limitations of reality.

Meet the Editor: Tiaan Booyens

We are excited to welcome Tiaan Booyens as the Editor of Mirari Revel. Based in Cape Town, Tiaan is a writer, editor, and journalist with a deep passion for speculative fiction. His editorial vision is rooted in fostering collaborative creativity, celebrating difference, and encouraging inventive storytelling.

Tiaan says, “Fiction, especially speculative fiction, allows us to make sense of a world that often marginalises the experiences of queer people. True to its name, Mirari Revel creates more space for authors to share disruptive and reverberant stories. Revel is about sharing the stories missing from the conversation.”

Submission Guidelines

Mirari Revel is now open for submissions of speculative short fiction (3000–6000 words) from a global pool of authors. All submissions must be made via our online portal. We are particularly interested in work that features clear queer representation and bold storytelling.

Visit our submissions page to learn more and send us your stories.
